Try exporting the file in GEDCOM format and then reopen it under a new file name. This sometimes leaves the old problems behind. Also always make a backup copy of the new file before attempting to do any repairs. If you have a second program such as FTM you might want to open the file in this program first and then export it back to PAF using the GEDCOM. When you shut down your computer using ctrl/alt/delete you don't allow the program to properly close the file, causing errors to occur that can only be repair by rewriting the file over. Remember; always make backups, backups, backups and backups of your work every time you work on your genealogy files. Then this error problem can never happen. I normal have 5 to 6 backups of my work located in different places on the computer, on floppy and zip. I burn a CD at least once a week of my files. The whole computer can crash and I still have a backup of my genealogy files.
