I use Ancestral Quest 2.1. It is based on the PAF 2.1 format, but it is a Windows program. That means that there is only one data file that is accessed by both programs. Edits in one program will be shown in the other. I also have PAF 3.0, which AQ2.1 is not fully compatible with. It does a conversion before it can accept the files. With a large file, it can talk overnight to convert. Much easier to do a gedcom.I find that if you can use PAF, you can use Ancestral Quest easily. I love it! Cost is about $35. and can be ordered directly from them (http://www.ancestralquest.com) or through any company that sells genealogy software (such as ancestry.com) They are supposed to be bringing out an update to make it compatible with PAF3.0. The tentative release date is October 1998. They are looking for imput on what you would like to see the program do.
