I am not sure I am following you but here is my thoughts:
I should create a new folder in Desktop perhaps called"My PAF Backups" and as I do periodic backups I place a date after my file name (JerryCollins) for each backup.JerryCollins is what appears on the screen each time I backup. I merely change this to JerryCollinsJan2010 for example and place the file in the folder My PAF Backups under Desktop.
Once the files are placed in My PAF Backups folder, I can select any particular file from the list of backups made over a period of time -- in this case I might choose JerryCollinsNov 2009 for some reason instead of the latest backup and select send to:
You mentioned the DVD-RW Drive (E:) and to follow the prompts. It is my understanding that multiple backups could be placed on a disk as long as you had the date to distinguish between them. Was this your reason for selecting the E: Drive?
Why did you select DVD-RD Drive (E:) instead of DVD Drive (D:)? Any particular reason or just used as an example.
I would personally prefer to use the DVD Drive (D:) for the backup as the disks are cheap and disposable. My ignorance may come into play here.I could then pop the disk into C: and copy it to the file name for a newly created file.
I am confused on the selection of file names for PAF Data Bases and the File names used for backup disks.Do they have to match?Seems they would have to match if you wanted to use the restore feature.I am under the impression that in using a GEDCOM file they do not have to match.
