In your place I would export All to a gedcom, create a new PAF (empty) PAF file with a new name, and import the gedcom.
I have done it many times (starting in PAF 2) and I don't think I have ever lost anything. Even the notes, sources, and multi-media links should be intact. To be on the safe side, I would save the new file in the same folder as the damaged file, so that any "absolute" links to media files are undisturbed.
You run no risk by trying it. Your present file will be unaffected, and you can always create a backup to be doubly secure.
