My apologies.I've posted queries on several locations, and I forgot which forum I was using.
I did say where Isaac Ashton lived. He has been referenced as from both Ormskirk (parish) and Skelmersdale (town about 4 miles away); he appears to have lived in Skelmersdale. Both locations are in Lancashire, about 12 miles NE of Liverpool, England.
Isaac appears to be a Quaker activist who was taken to the gaol on several occasions.Because of the years involved (1600s) there isn't a lot of documentation that I can find, and I recently learned he was involved with the Bickerstaffe Quakers, his wife and some children were buried in the Bickerstaffe cemetery, and that there was a book on them.Knowing that the Quakers keep wonderful records, this would appear my best bet for finding info on him, and his family, and potentially sons that some sources say immigrated to the US, but I have not been able to substantiate.Unfortunately, the person who posted the family tree did not post sources, and cannot be contacted.
One alleged son named Joseph may be my ancestor. He was subsequently baptized as a Baptist in PA, so he and his father may have been at odds in religious beliefs OR not father/son.So I'm trying to determine if Joseph is really the son of Isaac, or someone else.
The book appears to only be in a very few locations, mostly in England; it has not been filmed by the LDS church, and apparently can't be ordered. I have also posted my query on the Lancashire forum, with no success.
Here are my questions: 1.Isaac Ashton b 1625 (baptized Ormskirk) m Margaret: a.When/where were they married? b.What was her maiden name? Some say Hough; I have not been able to determine that.
2.When did Isaac die?My last reference to him is 1697.Did he leave a will?If so, where might I find it?
3.Did he have any children who immigrated to the US?If so, who, where, when.
I hope this answers your question. If there's other books/sources that have this info that you, or anyone can point to, please let me know!
