I just cruise the websites and if I get an idea in my head, I search it out. If it gives me info I can use, I stick with it and if it doesn't, I usually do not stick with it long.
I spent a very enjoyable day yesterday with an Uncle and aunt I have not seen in quite awhile. Our family is slowly dying out in the part of Michigan and he is the only uncle I have left out of six in the osborn family. He lives in Ohio in the town that all this ended in. I got to meet their daughter again and their granddaughters.
The only thing I can tell you about Goschenhoppen is, it is listed as the birth place of at least two of Joseph Jr. (1793) children. The rest of his children were all born in western Pennsylvania. Why does this figure in then?
All of Peter's people are listed in Chester County mainly around Westtown. His brother, Samuel, came over with him. Samuel is my line of descent there. The Peter I am refering to is Samuel' son, born 1742. Samuel Jr, Peter's brother was born, 1740.
These places are in Chester or surrounding counties. Westtown, East Bradford, Concord, Pennsbury, etc. Goschenhoppen is located in Berks County. I received a letter from a lady stating they built a new church so it is not Quaker then. Most of them are not on the state map of Pennsylvania.
Yes, I know the LDS site states that these facts have to be taken with a grain of salt and the person taking them has to prove the facts true, not the LDS, but it is a start. That is what I am trying to do now, is make the fact true or at least come close to it, so I search more on it. I have seen too many dates on people who died before they were born. One from my wife's side had a husband born 350 years before his children were born. Don't think so. Doesn't anyone proof read anymore? I try to before I send a message out but my eyes are usally watering too much from being on the computer for most of the afternoon and evening.
I will check the websites out that you cite. I have the orphan court records of Peter and Judith Osborne in my book. I am quite sure I got them off the Chester County site. Thank you very much for the info.
So they traveled across the ocean during the months of July and August if they landed in America in September? I have been on the Pacific during the months of April, May, June and it was not too bad. I was in the Air Force then. I had more sea time than some of my Navy friends. We left out of Pearl Harbor. That is one beautiful state.
