I have copies of the 1779 Estate filings with the Orphan's Court of York County for David Evans, widow Mary (there's no will because he died intestate).Named children are sons Thomas, Able (my ancestor), Abner, Caleb, David, Johnathan and daughter Sydney. Thomas was also an administrator of the estate.I'm in the process of transcribing the full set of records.
David Evans owned improved property in Dover Township (Warrant application filed in 1767) which was sold in 1779 as part of his estate settlement to pay debts.I thought Sydney would have been older since the estate settlement doesn't mention any of the children being minors, although it does talk about "providing for the education of his children."
I don't have access to any of the Quaker records at this time, but my family tradition says that Able Evans was a Quaker, though his daughter Susannah converted to Roman Catholicism. Her son, the Rev. P.A. Jordan S.J. of St. Joseph's Church in Philadelphia spoke of his "Quaker relatives" in some of his writing.
