The Generations v6 software runs on Windows XP.There IS a bug related to the Windows NT/2000/XP operating system family which shows up in Easychart. There is a simple workaround.
The problem is due to some differences in the handling of color palettes in the different o/s families (compared to Win 9x/ME).An Easychart chart will open up initially with the wrong palette in box fills.Simply save and reopen the chart and it will display properly.Leaving a chart open where you have done this will force any later charts to open correctly to start :-)So creating a small dummy chart is a good thing to do early on in a session where you will be making charts.
I have put together a large number of Generations Tips (including this) which are available in the Generations Tips folder on the Sierra Genealogy Q&A message board at http://www.sierra.comhttp://www.sierra.com (follow the links). They are also on my website at http://users.sisna.com/mhobarthttp://users.sisna.com/mhobart
Note that there are some incompatibilities between Generations and some other programs which some users mistakenly think are incompatibilites between Generations and Windows XP. (See the tip on program conflicts).I routinely run Generations (incl v6) on Windows XP.
