I have long been a PC user for genealogy since nearly all the software is geared to them. I found that Generations was the tops for charts and that Family Origins was great for data viewing and exporting for word and books. Most programmes cannot do both perfectly. Anyway my work in publishing resulted in me having a IMac and it's become annoying not to have my family tree to hand when I am browsing online. I can still only get dial-up here. Anyway, I upgraded to Rootsmagic which is excellent and a combination of Family Origins and Generations, but it does lack a few vital features that Generations had, which save a massive amount of time when doing really large old families. Like group branch moves, whole line colour changes, not having to select areas off screen etc... anyway with this in mind, I thought it time to get some software for my Mac. I don't trust Virtual PC for Mac on graphic layouts.
So I have bought Reunion which I trust is like the older Generations and is brilliant for large charts. I tried a cheap MacFamily Tree but that was terrible and really frustrating, they have offered me my money back. It certainly wasn't worth the £30. They import OC gedcoms to Macs ok too, vital of course with 8000 people on my system. So I am looking forward to Reunion 9.
