Shawn- I haven't figured out how to do gedcoms, or to post stuff, but here are my husband's Hackworth-Rigney people. Mine are mostly New Englanders except for one VA line.
1.Augustine AUstin Hackworth b. 1746 in CAroline Co. VA married (Mary) Ruth Keeth or Keith. d. 1847. We think Augustine was the son of George Hackworth (b.1720 in Engand) and Ann Leftwich b. in VA but can't be sure. I'm fairly certain on George, it's just who his wife was that's at issue.
2. Austin Augustus Hackworth b. 1793 married Elizabeth Rigney, b. 1803 daughter of John Rigney and Catherine Huffman. They were married 1821 in Knox Co. TN and both died in Cedar Springs, TN, which was in Sequatchie Co. He died 1866. She died 1876
3. Jasper Hackworth (1828-1913) Cedar Springs, TN married Elizabeth Anne Gonce (1835-1917)daughter of Randolph Gonce & Elizabeth Talley.
4. Robert E. Lee Hackworth (1864-1958) born and died in Cedar Springs. Married Mary Ellen Taylor, (1872-1945) daughter or Cephus Taylor & Sarah Anne COndra.
5. Paul Marshall Hackworth (1911-1976) This was my husband's grandfather. His wife is still living as are his 4 children.
So far as the Rigneys and Huffmans (Hoofman is another spelling I've seen) John Rigney and CAtherine Huffman were both born in Pittsylvania CO., VA. Catherine's father;s name was Henry and her mother Barbara (maiden name unknown). I have John & Catherine's marriage listed as 1/27/1788 in Pittsylvania. That's all I know for sure on the, The Huffman family seems to be part of a group that came over from Germany as part of the Hebron Lutheran congregation and founded the Germanna Colony in VA. The name Rigney is common in Ireland- I have found quite a few in Co. Laois and that general area. Some descendents believe the name to be Huguenot in origin, as it appears in France as well. I can't get any further back than your Jonathon, and where there were so many Johns and Jonathons, I am not positive where our man fits in for sure. So far as others related to this group here are the surnames I have info on:
Hackworth, Taylor, Gonce, Condra, Talley, Wilson, Sutherland, McDade, Leftwich. I have quite a lot on the Gonces, COndras, Talleys, and Hackworth. I am in touch with several Rigney researchers as well.
On my side I have these: McGuire, Donivan, McKnight, SHerman, Ostrander, Tilley, Howland, Hawes, Lombard, Claghorn, Nichols, Sincerbeaux, Hacherl, Squires, Smith, Russell, Mayhew, Gorham, Majewski, Gould, Spooner and several others I know less about.
