My people, Bakers, were from Buchanan County, Va. (actually out of the Perry/Clay Co., Ky., Bakers). They can be found in the Tazewell Co., Va., census in 1850, and in Buchanan Co. in 1860.They also lived for a short time around 1850 in Pike Co., Ky.
My wife's people, Normans, were from North Carolina, probably leaving there around 1840.They lived in Tazewell County, Va., in 1850, but were in Pike Co., Ky., by the time of the war.
Both my wife's people and my own lived within the area of the celebrated Hatfield-McCoy Feud.I've done some ground-breaking work on the people in that neighborhood and have some interesting ideas about it.
