Just a reminder to the descendants of the 1st Alabama Cavalry, U.S. that our descendant’s reunion and reenactment in Blountsville, Ala. is on May 1.
We’re going to have a great time and we have many planned activities for the descendants. They include: A guided tour of the 1st Alabama Cavalry, Co. C’s camp, featuring the 1st Alabama Cavalry String Band; close order and skirmish drill as performed by several companies (Company B and Company C) of the 1st Alabama; a historian’s panel on the unionist movement in northern Alabama; a private reception for the descendants; and finally dinner with the troops.
Bring your lawn chair and plan on making a day of it!
If you want to participate in these activities, please go to our website and pre-register. The address is www.1stalabamacavalryusv.com You can only participate in these wonderful activities if you pre-register.
All pre-registration means is that you telling us you are coming, how many are in your party and their names, and your address. It’s that simple. There is no payment until you arrive onsite in Blountsville. We hope that you can arrive onsite between 8 and 10 a.m. Please let us know if coming afterward and we will make arrangements.
As a registered descendant, your name will be on a list of those guests who will receive preferential treatment. Once you arrive, just tell the person at the gate that you are a registered descendant, pay your $5 per head, and they’ll point you where to go.
Registration for our event closes on April 15, so you need to be pre-registered by then. If you come to our event (you’ll still have to pay the $5 admission fee) but have not pre-registered, we won’t be able to offer you these wonderful amenities because we have to plan our event so carefully. We hope you understand.
Thanks and we do look forward to seeing our family of friends and descendants of the brave men of the 1st Alabama Cavalry U.S. who followed their conscious at great sacrifice to give service to their country.
