I'm new at this but need all the help I can get. The story goes like this. Bill(?) Phillips broke horses for the Union while living in the mountains of eastern Tennessee. He was told to stop and when he didn't, was hung and left for dead. His wife Martha was hiding and when those who hung him left, she ran out and cut him down and he lived. Once he was better, he again started to break horses. When the Confederates found out, they returned, hung him again, but this time waited until he was dead. If anyone has heard this story or one very similar, please let me know.
