In 1862, he joined the Union Army till 14 months, after peace was declared.Later Joined the navy.After navy he worked for rail road in Centralia, Illinois, after a while he returned to his father Miles Reeves Barnes home in Alabama. There he married Martha Beaver On Dec. 20, 1866, then became a literary teacher in public schools in Ala.After a course of time he moved to Rara Avis,Mississippi where he continued teaching for years.
Morganwas also a Letter Carrier for 17 yrs. resigning on count of old and feeble. Was member of M.M. church and member of the Providence Masonic Lodge (#401) Itawamba County, Mississippi,practiced teachings on masonry.
