I was at the Archives this week and was looking at the 1st Ala Cav. "books" (this before I got your note, Richard).I found where Company M went to Cairo Ill. in March 29(?) 1864. They left from Memphis.I think the name of the steamer was the "Westmoreland".
Some of the families leftin 1863 for Ill. ?If so, could the "Westmoreland" take up more families in 64?Could there be a passenger list?Sounds like I'm fishin' !
