After reading some of the other messages, I decided to type one of the rosters right away. This is a roster Englehard Endres would have used to check the presence of the men in Company I, 23rd Infantry. It shows last names, in some cases first initials, and rank. There is no date on the piece, but the rank shown for Sgt. Endres is the rank he held when he went to the Phillipines. (During the war, he was promoted.) It simply says "Company Roll."
During the 30 years Endres was with 23rd Infantry, his home base moved several times. At the time of the Spanish American War, the company's home base was listed as Salt Lake City, Utah, but they had recently moved from Ft. Clark, Texas.
I have typed the list exactly as it reads in the roll. Brackets enclose any questions I had about spelling.
