Dear Christina, I have a success story for you. My grandmother was born in Brink, Virginia in 1905. At the age of 17 (1922-1923) she left home, leaving her father, mother, four brothers and three sisters behind. My Grandmother died in 1980 never having seen or havinghearing from any of her family again.A few months before her death she started dropping clues pertaining to her original family, consisting of their names and were they had lived. After the death of Our mother ( her daughter) in 1998, my sister andI began to search the clues she had left. In September of 1998 we made an unsuccessful trip to Virginia. Coming back home(broken hearted) we began to search the internet. We visited many web sites and message boards luckly in 2000 we finally found a connection a long unknown second cousin was searching for the same people we were. After a successful second trip to Virginia we were able to meet two of my grandmothes sisters still living and lots and lots of her neices and nephews. On August 18th 2001 they are planning a family reunion to enable us to meet more of her original family members. Thanks to Genforum. Family Tree Maker the internet and my ever faithful computer our wish has came true. I only wish we had started looking while Grandmother was living ,imagine letting her be in on the meeting of her long lost family. Thanks for being interested.
