Deezak: I just picked this up on "The Word MVP Site":
"The Microsoft Word Help suggests that you can automatically generate an index. Sorry, but you can't (the "result" looks like an index but the reader can't use it)." The article goes on to suggest using the "Find" feature but I think that will be of limited use. It's a far cry from being able to create a complete index by simply highlighting an entry. I also wonder how an indexing system might work with a complete name, say Charles Everett Net. Would you just highlight "Net"? Could one select the entire name, and if so, how would the program handle it? Obviously, Word can't make the decision as to which is the surname, given name or middle name. To me, just being able to index a surname without the complete name is not really the sort of index I look for. I dunno, I'm just glad I finished mine.
