You are right that I am in Texas.My primary surname is Roach, and they were in Texas by December 1855.However, they came here from Grainger County TN and before that they were in Old Orange County NC.I have not proved it conclusively, by am searing in Halifax County VA before NC.Could be MD, but I think the gap is too large for that.
I use the LDS Personal Ancesteral Files for the purpose of making Pedigree Charts.I started with my own, maybe 12 years ago, and I have gradually added to them as my sisters and brother wanted theirs, and some cousins, too. What I did was to make a separate document that lists the sources for each of the entrants on the Pedigree Chart.The sources are numbered to correspond with the position on the chart, and then I attach that to the Pedigree Chart.I don't know if that is of any value to you or others reading this thread, but it has worked for me thus far.
It isn't that I can't do the data entry.I can.I just don't want to.I like my own format, and I am used to it.
