I have recently been lent 2 photo albums that belonged to my Great-uncle.I scanned all the photos and so far most of the photos have the default name ie. scan0001, scan0002, scan0003 etc.
Only a few photos have date information and only a few more have actual captions although I have faith that I'll be able to identify almost everyone in the photos I scanned.
Normally, I would tend to use the following format for the file name: Lastname Firstname YYYYMMDD Event
I have lots of group photos with this project so, I'm unsure what names to use. Also, I was tending to name photos in the order in which people appear (Wendt Emma Woodrow Elvera) but this convention makes it hard to find all the photos of Elvera for example.
Would it be best to keep copies of the photos, each named for whomever is in the photo?(example: 3 copies of the above photo, one named Wendt Emma, one named Wendt Woodrow and a third named Wendt Elvera even though the photo has 3 people in it?)
Any suggestions would be welcome.
BTW, I've recently begun using ACDSee Pro Photo Manager 2.5 to facilitate adding captions to the photo information.
