I don't think I can be of much help as I have not had your problems.I never used the UFT Website and did not have a web page of my own and never shared data over the internet.
To give you a little back-ground.I started using Commsoft's genealogy software starting with Roots89 back in the eighties and faithfully upgraded every time a new version came out. When the company was sold, I upgraded to Ultimate Family Tree. The last version I got from the company was version 3.I recently upgraded with instructions I found on this forum to version 3.1.
This past year I bought a new Dell Dimension 4550 computer with Microsoft Windows XP Family Edition, Intel Pentium 4 Processor at 2.40 GHz, and 1 GB DDR SDRAM at 266MHz. I downloaded the UFT version 3 software and transferred the project and library files from my old computer which used Windows 95 with no problems.
I have never had any problems with Foxpro. The reason I asked for help on this forum was that I wanted to burn a copy of my journal directly to a CD from UFT without going thru Word, the reason being that I wanted the endnotes compressed. When you transfer the journal to Word the endnotes cannot be compressed. Also, the index prints out before the endnotes.
My journal totals 1,314 pages which included endnotes and index. It took about 6+ hours to download the project so that it could be printed. You say that your journal totals 5,000 pages and it only took you 1 1/2 hours to compile or download the data.I have printed out my complete journal directly onto paper via a Laser Printer with no problems. I have printed out to the *.PDF file that John Moran suggested on this forum with no problems which can than be burned onto CD.I have not downloaded my complete journal onto Word at any one time, but I have downloaded segments of it, each segment totaling maybe 200 or so pages with no problems.
I am not familiar with the 350 MHz speed problem. Is it because your journal is so big (5,000 pages) that you do not want to print it directly from UFT to paper and therefore want to transfer it to Word first so you can burn it to a CD?Try John Moran's suggestion in answer to my message and trying downloading the PDF file and download your journal there where it can then be burned to CD.
