I'm having problems with Family Tree Maker version 11. Everytime I try to use a lot of the builtin online functions Family Tree Maker stops responding. It seems that it will never start responing again until I open up the Windows Task Manager and kill a process called Ftosub.exe and then it opens Internet Explorer and starts working right again.
I'm using IE Version 6.0.2800.1106 Build 62800 on Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1 Build 2600 in case that helps.
Also, I have Spybot - Search & Destroy on my computer and it previously found DSSAgent on it that I told it to remove.(Appearently it is some kind of data collecting program built into Family Tree Maker.)I found out later it installs without notice with Broderbund apps. I am wondering if this is causing my trouble.
Family Tree Maker won't let me run the browser setup successfuly either. I just tried it again to see exactly what it said and noticed it detects only MS IE 6.0 (32-bit) yet my Cipher Strength says (128-bit) so it seems like it may also be detecting it wrong. When I tried I get the following error, "Unable to set up Internet Explorer."
I've tried opening the add/remove programs and selecting Family Tree Maker and running the Repair option but this didn't work either. If anyone could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.
