Since I had always thought that this UFT footnote toggling problem was unique to my version of MS Word 97 on Win 95/98, I thought I would give it a shot with a Descendant Journal Report with the Kennedy Family Sample database on OpenOffice.org Writer.
Unfortunately I did not have MS Word on my XP machine, so trying to get the "proper" version of an RTF export resulted in a mini-crash. After re-booting and running Fixme.bat, Both XP and UFT began to respond again.
Cut to the chase: 1)Do not try to set a path to OOo Writer exec file from UFT printer setup.
2)On a machine without Word or Wordperfect, it is possible to get a "good", but not necessarily "best" RTF Journal report export ftom UFT by selecting Wordpad.exe as the Editor of choice, but with "Automatically Launch Editor" deselected.
3)The RTF file of this report, complete with headers and footers, can be opened in OOo Writer. OOo is better than Wordpad or UFT Editor, but footnotes cannot be toggled. Only Endnotes. -john
