I have been using Ultimate Family Tree for years. I like the way it functions -guess I'm just used to it. Tried a couple of times converting to Family Tree Maker -that is a disaster. It truncated my event text notes and consolidated the biographical text and event text into one, and did not like the way it handled my sources.
I have studied that The Master Genealogist Program (TMG) converts the data well. I am wondering, from those UFT users who have converted, how they like TMG. I am wondering in terms of ease of use, functionality, reports, sources, etc.
I know I will have to convert sooner or later, when I get more serious about publishing manuscripts etc. For now, UFT has served its purpose well, though I do find some of the "bugs" extremely annoying, as well as many of the "quirks", such as footnote challenges in various reports.
Also, I notice TMG has been running Version 6 for quite some time now. Maybe they will be coming out with a new version sometime soon?
As long as the data converts o.k., it should convert later as well as now, so there would be no hurry to convert to TMG. But as time goes on, I continue to imput volumes of data into UFT, I just wonder if I would be better off making the switch now, or if procrastination might serve itself just as well in this instance.
