The big problem with trying to move UFT data to another genelogy program is that the standard GEDCOM data base transfer format does not support UFT's event data. You are likely to have a significant data update process to get all your information into a new program.
I believe the only programs that support event stuctures like UFT are Roots Magic and The Master Genealogist. You would still have the data transfer problems going to Roots Magic but TMG has an import facility that will bring in almost all the UFT data directly to its database. It can import directly from a UFT database or from a UFT backup file.
TMG is a powerful program, so there will likely be a bit of a learning curve, but then you get that with any new program. It has an active mailing list and a support forum and there are a number of contributers that came over from UFT when support for that product was discontinued.
Personally I maintain our data on UFT because it has a number of data entry and data features that I prefer. However, I also import my data to TMG to make use of a number of features I like there, such as charts, some reports, and a powerful web site builder program (an extra cost utility).
