I didn't want to do it, because UFT 2.8 is a great program despite its quirks. But today, I bought Legacy 3.0 from their website, and also downloaded the update patch. It's a fine program! I find it intuitively easy to use and very flexible, and the program runs great (on my Gateway AMD K2-6 @366 with Windows 98)!
I never bought UFT 3.0 because I was waiting for a patch that would fix its errors. That patch never came, and the support and marketing for UFT seem to be withering on the vine. Meanwhile, FTM has released 7.5.
Don't wonder about Paul's cryptic silence on UFT; his silence speaks volumes! Make up your own mind: do you want to continue to hope for a fix to 3.0? Do you want to continue to hope for a new, "improved" version? Or is it time to move on?
Many people don't need to upgrade or move on, of course, and for the majority of us, UFT 2.8 works fine. I have not deleted it from my computer. But I am also not adding more relatives to its database, either.
For many of us, decision time is nigh. If you believe you need a new genealogical program, download or order Legacy, or PAF, or Family Origins, or Brothers Keeper, or TMG and decide for yourself.
