I think it's high time we got some answers from whoever is supposed to be stearing this sinking ship. Paul, your constant defense of this company without concrete or even vague answers has reached the point of ridiculous.
Is there or is there not a future for UFT? Will you (company you, not personal you) provide your loyal and increasingly fed up customer base with a bug fix for this program before we all end up taking our toys and going to play in someone else's yard? Users should not have to retain two versions of the program on their computers to get certain features to work as they should. It's redundant, not to mention a waste of disk space. Is this company just too plain stupid to realize they have a very devoted client base or do they just not care. We don't want company secrets, although to hear you talk, even letting us know that "Yes, we intend to continue with the product" or "No, Sorry, we're sinking it", is top secret. Very simple and it does not give away anything that will sink the company I'm sure. Ah, the old adage must apply: "If we told you anything, we'd have to shoot you..." I used to work for a government contractor and had a secret clearance and was allowed to give out more information than you people do!!!!
The company has been sold so many times we're dizzy. I've crossed out so many technical support numbers inside my user's manuals I'm now writing them in pencil! Tech support (not including Blue and Melissa, of course) is appalling--most don't even know how the program operates!!! WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE GENEALOGY.COM or whoever your business card says you are today. YOU ARE DRIVING AWAY CUSTOMERS IN DROVES. If you are the only one reading this board Paul, then you need to direct the powers that be that they'd better start reading and quick. Users are leaving for Legacy, TMG and other better supported, albeit unequal to UFT programs.
I know the program is usable and I know that if we were to hear tomorrow that it is indeed dead (an assumption I am going on at this moment...) that we can still use it, but the program is buggy and we can see no indication that Genealogy.com is going to do anything about it. However, they are really good at trying to get us to buy their inferior FTM program. Not a chance there. I've tried the program and it's lame at best.
This is no way to run a company and no way to win customer loyalty or to even keep customers. You have a very good program that is in most opinions second to none and you are doing nothing to save it. This is truly a pathetic situation and a sad way to treat your customers.
