I haven't been into genealogy but about three years and didn't begin to tap into all of UFT's potential compared to many of the users. And it may be a while before I get into TMG's many possibilities. I will keep an eye on the UFT board and chime in as appropriate when people are wondering about other programs. Right now, I couldn't say if TMG will do every detail desired for the advanced users. So far, I think some of the basic tasks of data entering are equal or better in some cases than UFT. But as for some of the more unique tasks, I don't know. So far, I have been impressed with the manual as it is easy to understand. And as I mentioned in my original post, the ability of TMG to transfer your entire database without going through a GEDCOM was a big plus for me. It was quite a simple process. I don't have a large database, but many of the users obviously do and would find it a real problem if not everything transferred into the proper location in another program. As far as I can tell, everything transferred just great. I haven't heard of any other programs that will do this, though they may be out there. I would not have left UFT, but the program was causing a conflict in my computer, which I verified. So until you have to, I'm not recommending that you switch, but if you have to later, then I think TMG may be the next one close to UFT. Well, this is just the opinion of an intermediate user and I hope UFT continues, but I think I'll do OK with TMG for my future needs.
