You said: >>My query is: IF is is pointed to find C:UFT as G.c tells us, WHY is it finding D:UFT28 when C:UFT is there all the time? I think It is SUPPOSED to seek C:UFT but the program has been so screwed up ythat it is NOT actulaay written the correct way.<<
We never said that the installation for the update looked in any specific directory. The troubleshooting page for the update includes infdormaiton about what appears to be happening in your case when it says that the message that the version ideitified is not v3.0 can happen "when the update software tries to automatically locate your copy of version 3.0 by looking in the Windows registry but instead finds an earlier version. In this case, use the dialog box that is displayed to locate the proper version of Ultimate Family Tree."
In your case, the update may have been doing what it should have if the registary was pointing to an older version of UFT. Then, when you pointed it to the right location and still received that same message, if you were trying to apply the correct version of the update for your version of UFT, you may have been experiecing the installation problem that others have and for which we have released a new vesiojn of the patch with a slight modification to eh instalaltion routine.
