Some year ago I wrote an article for our Dutch CIG to use export to Excel with UFT. I presume you wont read Dutch easily... so I will briefly explane the use:
When you have two projects (one of your own and another via a gedcom file) and you want to see the possible duplicates you can use the Excel export feature.
Make two 'lists' to Excel having name, birthdate, birthplace, death date, death place in it. In Excel you give one spreadsheet another color (blue) and the main list (with your data) leave it black.
Merge the two spreadsheets and sort them on name and birthdate. You get one spreadsheet and all possible duplicate individuals are one after another and you can see the difference between your data and the gedcom on the color.
Was this clear enough? In the original article I explained step by step the procedure both in UFT and Excel.
