The argument that you make is based on the belief that our entire Family Archive CD collection is comprised of World Family Tree CDs when that's not true by a long shot.
There are over 260 CDs in the Family Archive CD collection. Of them about 50 are World Family Tree CDs. There is a wide variety ion the type of data available in the FACD collection. if you are interested, go to: http://www.genealogy.com/cdhomelist.htmlhttp://www.genealogy.com/cdhomelist.html to see what is available. You certainly don't have to use any CD if you don't want to. Perhaps, though, it would be helpful to see what is available.
Is your objection to the World Family Tree Project based on the fact that people can make their files available to others? That is nothing new and certainly nothing that the World Family Tree Project started. People have been trading and sharing their files for as long as people have been doing genealogy. World Family Tree CDs is just another way that this is accomplished (along with oral tradition, hand-written documents, books, the Internet, and other methods). They are all tools to use to assist the family historian.
