TMG has a good comparison chart on their Website.Obviously it is biased towards them but overall it is factual. There was also a poll done that compared all popular genealogy programs (see the TMG website for link) and TMG ranked first and I believe UFT ranked second.Like UFT there is a learning curve required with TMG.Like UFT however they have a good discussion group and good technical support. Some of the things TMG offered I liked were:
1.The option of standard or customized source templates. 2.The option of standard or customized sentences. 3.Better transfer of data to other word processor programs. 4.An index with correct page numbers (I'm not sure if UFT if worked this out). 5.The use of GenBridge to import data from people using other programs. The use of the F3 key to repeat duplicate entries quickly.
Some negatives I have are: 1.The lack of short place names (TMG claims this will be part of the next update). 2.The lack of embedded endnotes in text (TMG claims this will be part of the next update). 3.The use of a find button to quickly enter duplicate place names (I still miss this with UFT). 4.The graphics on the screens for TMG - to me - are not as professional looking as UFT. 5.It is a 16 bit system (TMG claims it will upgrade to 32 bit later in the year).
