Nonsense! FTM is difficult to use because the design is illogical.
I think the best beginner's program is Family Origins. Data entry is intuitive and fast, and the design follows the basics -- pedigree, family group. and individual (just like TMG, for example). Source documentation is a snap. Nonetheless, it is powerful and many amateur genealogists will never "outgrow" it.If they do, they will have developed an orderly mind-set that will make the transition to a more demanding program less difficult. It is reasonably priced (although I think the price just went up) and not everyone will want to spend $100 on an advanced program to support a hobby they might tire of in the near future.
FTM wins in the marketing business, but that's all.
