Interesting text and in a way Mr Armstrong is probably right the world and genealogy will be different in a few years. That leaves us with UFT… I told everybody in earlier messages that UFT is still a fine product and will continue working on my computer as long as Win98 or Win2000 exists. I know the program inside outside and for my needs it serves me well. As Mr Armstrong told we must take a look at our own needs and goals and then consider if we need more features and when we need them. If I look at my goals I can assure you that for entering data and keeping the facts of my genealogy UFT will do it for at least 1 or 2 years and maybe more. By that time the Internet and the programs (not only genealogy) will evolve to something completely different than we see now. There are rumours that in a not so distant future we will not buy programs anymore but rent applications and part of programs through the Internet. So if we need to write a letter we will rent Word for a time to do the job instead of buying Office2005 with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook! Another thing to consider is if you spent 39 U$ or even less for the beginner to buy UFT and are sure that you can work with it for another 3 years that is 13 U$ a year so why complaining if I go to a pub with some friends and have one of those fine Belgian beers it costs me a lot more.
