Many of us have upgraded to 3.1 with no problem. Presumably you were wise enough to make a backup before you did it; why not just restore from that backup?
"By the way, has anyone every gotten an answer on why UFT seems to need 33 files for each project created vs. the 3 Basefiles of Roots3?"
The answer is that the newer genealogy programs use a relational data base. In such a system there are considerable savings in space and time by having multiple files interlinked. R3 went to a GREAT deal of effort to conserve space with its "flat file" scheme, and then there were limitations on the number of records which were caused to some extent by the fancy coding schemes used.
Besides, several of those "33" are not for "each project" - they are for combined libraries. There are plusses and minuses in that regard, but the combined library intent was to conserve space.
I guess you could complain about the number of files used in Windows as comapred with those used for DOS or CP/m.....
