<> I can think of several events that would fall before the birth event.Say my great grandmother was born 11 Jan 1889.According to the 1910 census she was 25.That would give her a birth2 event of ca 1885.Then say her tombstone states that she was born 1887.That would give her a birth3 event of ca 1887.Now she has two events that are before her birth event of 11 Jan 1889.I don't want the order of events to be hardcoded into the software. That way I can add events in that others may never have thought of.Even I haven't at this time. Don't think of the sort date as a fake date, but rather as a tool that you can use to help you to get things into order. For instance. I try to have a "real (if you will) date" for every event as I enter them. But I also havean event called pictorial, in which I do not want a date to print. So I use the sort date to put the pictures in order in the persons life. Sometimes the sort date is an estimate, sometimes it is a date that came off the back of the picture. It is a great tool, if you can get past the fact that you don't have data backing it up.It never prints, and only you can see it.
