I am surprised nobody told you to run FIXME.BAT. It is probable that the color problem has nothing to do with being unable to open UFTree.
You said you don't understand DOS. No problem. What you want to do must be done with the UFTree program closed. That should not be a problem since you say you can't open UFTree.
Probably best you don't have any other program open either. I assume you are using Windows 95 or Windows 98. If you are using Windows 3.1, then we have to use different instructions to solve the Error 41 problem.
On your desktop (the opening window for Windows 95 or 98), is an icon named 'My computer'. Right click once on that icon. Right click once on the word Explore. Left click once on Tools. Left click once on Find. Left click once on Files or folders.
In the popup window, in the little box called Named: type in Fixme*.* Press the Find Now button. Wait.
After a while the Fixme file will appear in the larger box below. Double left click Fixme.bat It may only say Fixme. That is okay. Double left click it. Wait. When all done (it won't take long) try to open UFTree. Please let us know if you can open UFTree or not. Also please let us know if the colors are back. I don't think the colors will be back because I think that is a different problem.
