I just bought a new computers and there are several ways to transfer data between computers. One of the simple ways is to connect the two computers together with a parallel cable. Connect LPT1 on the old computer to LPT1 on the new computer.
Go to "Start - Programs - Accessories - Communications - Direct Cable Connections" and set up the connection.
You will then be able to transfer any files you wish from one computer to the other.
I elected to keep both computers, one for me and the other for my wife. I purchased an "Ethernet Network in a Box" and installed it on both computers. This consist of two 10/100 cards, one for each computer, a 5 port ethernet hub and the cables to connect the computers together and the necessary network software to make the network work.
I am now able to have one internet dial up conection and use either or both computers at the same time each using a different e-mail ID, access files on either computer from both computers etc. This option costs around $100.00 and is not necessary unless you wish to leave it in place for future use.
