On one of the FTM Forums a user asked how she could print a 5 generation Pedigree with either PAF or FTM in accordance with genealogical society standards. Since I had a version of both programs I jumped in with both feet as usual.
One problem with FTM is that it doesn't even have a 5 generation pedigree. The problem with PAF was that on the five gen report it abbreviates and truncates the fields in a most odd manner to about 24 character. But in the latest version of PAF,with RTF "Print to File" capability, you can do some laborious final editing in the Text Editor and get more.
In the process of making multiple replies, I mentioned that UFT also seemed unable to support long fields in a five generation report (with default font settings). This morning I discovered that by selection of Arial Narrow 8pt font as the UFT Small Text Font, the report Will support long field lengths for places (36 characters or so) and print a report in accordance with accepted standards. My apologies for momentarily doing UFT a disservice on the "Other" board.:-) -john
