I went to the company page to download the UFT 3.1 patches, and when I clicked on "issues in version 3.0" I got nothing except an error message.Does anyone have this file lying around where it could be sent to me?I hate to install patches when I don't even know what bugs they are *supposed* to be fixing.
I must admit I have always used UFT in the "simple" mode, not really taxing all of its capabilities. What I have always appreciated was the help it gave me in getting my sources recorded properly. Some of the reports didn't work very well, and I've had the "phantom people" problem (solved when I packed the file, but ooh, that's scary in itself); but I could always work around the problems by transferring a GEDCOM to FTM for printing, and other slightly PITB methods.
I'm thinking I may just stick with UFT 3.0 or 3.1 until my Pentium becomes obsolete, rather than trying to switch to a more "alive" program like TMG.I mean, UFT may be dead, but the carcass still works pretty well for my purposes.
Of course, this is being written by a person who still keeps an old DOS-based database program around, and the dot-matrix printer that it insists on printing to, because it makes labels just the way I want them, and I don't want to upgrade to something "better" but more complicated. Not exactly at the cutting edge, here.
The one thing that might get me switch to The Master Genealogist is the ability to print better charts.I printed out a family tree this summer for a reunion, and cut and pasted it all onto a big piece of plastic. What a mess, but it worked OK. It sure would be nice to avoid using all that Scotch Tape.Has anyone out there tried TMG's big printer offer?
