In PAF 5.0, I understand that the sources do import okay.If footnotes aren't importing, it could be that 1) the sources and footnotes are not added to the overall evidence window. In the 5.5 and FTW GEDCOM exports, only sources and footnotes attached to the overall evidence window will be included in the GEDCOM file.If the evidence is entered in the place or date evidence windows, they won't be included. 2) re: the footnote text in the Event text fields not importing... footnote text will NOT import to PAF for a couple of reasons - both relating to the same thing.First of all, the footnote (and research) text in the text fields are not included in the GEDCOM file. The event and individual text are included, but not the footnote or research text fields. In PAF, there is only one text field, so if you have event text, it will be added to the individual text.PAF doesn't have a separate field for each of the events.
As for footnotes in evidence windows (either from source records or freenotes), those should be exporting and importing to PAF as long as they're in the overall event evidence window, but if Footnote text is entered in the text windows, then those won't export.
Myrnice suggested exporting to FTW and then creating a GEDCOM in FTW to export to PAF, but that wouldn't work either.FTW doesn't have a place for footnote or research text either, so it wouldn't import from UFT and therefore would not export.
The only work-around for the footnote text not importing would be to move the footnote text to the Event text field in UFT before generating the GEDCOM file. You could mark it as a footnote by highlighting it and clicking the Footnote button, however when it exports to PAF, the footnote codes would surround the text - i.e.[FN:This is a footnote.:FN] and it wouldn't be imported to the source field, it would be imported to the Text field. The other option - which is better - is to move the footnote text to the Evidence record as a Free-note.This way it would not only export as a source in the GEDCOM file, but it would also print as a footnote in UFT.
If you've been using the date or place evidence windows, you're going to need to move it to the overall evidence window for it to be included.
I hope I've explained this well enough. My "source" is still very helpful. :)
