Begin with a good off the computer backup (tape, disk, zip drive), made using the UFT program.
Go ahead and click "ignore". Then use the program. When this problem first showed up it was attributed to faster computers. Clicking 'ignore' gave the program time to catch up.
You were not alone in not knowing about the corporate buyouts and resulting problems.
TMG is rated well above UFT by its users. An independent judge placed the TMG and UFT about neck and neck in early January 2000 or so.
It will take time to learn a new program, even one similar to UFT as TMG is. Plan to spend a few months learning TMG before committing you UFT projects to TMG. At this time, TMG is the only program that can import your UFT data directly without loss or error. GEDCOM loses. GEDCOM was never created to perfectly transfer data from one program to another.
I am very pleased with TMG. There are TMG support groups all over the country.
