Mary- UFT is capable of exporting very satisfactory reports in Rich Text Format(RTF). Up until a couple of years ago, most users of this forum thought these reports to be better than those included in any other released genealogy program. Some still do.
But Wordperfect went on a downhill slide from version 6 to version 8. They may have had more than a little help on this slide from their competition - particularly from one competitor who also produced the dominant operating system.
If you are more comfortable with Wordperfect than any other Text Editor at this point in time, here are your most viable options:
1)Reinstall WP 6 or 7. Let UFT automatically export your reports to WP 6 or 7. (Not recommended. May cause Windows registry problems.) -OR- 2)Install any version of MS Word so that UFT can find a path to Winword.exe. (Due to quirks in the UFT 2.8 design, you must have a valid path to Winword.exe!). -THEN- 3)Let UFT "Automatic Launch" the reports as RTF exports to MSWord. Edit them in MSWord and/or resave them in "doc" format to try to import them into Wordperfect 8.
Be aware that versions of MSWord before Word 97 lack certain features. Also be aware that early versions of MSWord 97 do not actually save files in MSWord 97 "doc" format. Microsoft "forgot" and accidentally exported both RTF and doc files in RTF format. Coincidentally and simultaneously, Corel was having major problems with its RTF import conversion utility in Wordperfect 8.
(Microsoft now has a download available to properly export in the "doc" format with MSWord 97.)
4) If you install any version of MSWord, and also upgrade to Worperfect 9 or later, you can bypass MSWord in the following manner.
5)Select Winword.exe in the browser path. Deselect "Automatic Launch" of MSWord. (Yes, you are now attempting to use the UFT "MSWord" RTF output directly in WP). Save the exported file as a "Filename.RTF" file with a name of your choosing. Attempt to open said file in Wordperfect 9. Wait for the conversion Utility to grind.
