Just a note to say that somehow I dont expect it to work for everyone as thats just the way computers are !
But the main concept is that the patch needs to be put in the directory of the family tree program, with a file called FOXW2600.ESL. I did not tuck it into one of the 12 Folders that appear under my C:UFT directory, but there are lots of files at the end, including file FOXW2600.ESL and thats where it went.
I double clicked on a file in the same place called FOXRUN. Which bought up a black screen like a DOS prompt screen.
The commands to type are explained in a "Readme" file which is downloaded with the patch. There are 2 solutions to follow. I followed Situation 2 - Run-Time Applications. and the commands recommended. Maybe the upper/lower case is important Ive noticed my posting is different from the readme file.
Like I say it may be that it doesnt work for your machine but also its difficult to gage what level to write a reply to you, because one of things that you may be falling down on is the CD C:UFT command - my machine did this command for me, so I didnt need to type this in - this command points your pc to the directory that your family tree program is in and also where the patch26 program is, therefore it cant run the patch if the pc isnt pointed at the right directory.
I posted how I solved the problem because I work with computers (not PC's I hasten to add) and even I missed the point that you dont just click on the patch when its put on your pc, so I thought that maybe other people were doing that too. No one said that my memo helped them, so maybe I was was the only one double clicking on the patch !!
