There is a patch put out by microsoft that is supposed to help those using WinXP and/or Win2000. Anyone with pre-3.0 versions, who has Windows XP and can't run UFT OR for ANYONE with version 3.0 or later, still having a problem with XP and can't run UFT ... should update the foxw2600.esl http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q240/9/82.ASPhttp://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q240/9/82.ASP file from Microsoft [download the PATCH26.exe by following the instructions on the website].
In case you didn't know, however, Family Gathering was updated and later the name changed to Ultimate Family Tree (UFT). The last version of UFT was the downloadable update 3.1, just prior to Genealogy.com's "dismissal" of their product. Since they no longer support the program, and since you are using such an old version, I would highly suggest that you check into The Master Genealogist (TMG). TMGg can import your data directly (without need of Gedcom). Highly supported by its programmers/producers, TMG is an up-to-date program for the serious genealogist.
