At this point in time, your options may be "anything but UFT 1.0". If you do switch, and if you have an early version of 1.0, you may even find that the file export menu (*.sqz backups and *.ged Gedcoms) is indexed incorrectly. If so, just keep poking around on the export menu, up and down, until you get a usable file to transfer.
If you want easy data entry, FTM might serve your purposes. But since you were the original purchaser of UFT 1.0, and presumably compared its features to all the genealogy programs on the shelf as of 1998, you may be more inclined to now go with TMG's more prolific data handling features at this point in time.
