I just spotted this forum, and I see it's not populated with too many messages, so I hope you don't mind my responding to your message....
I was at Udorn RTAFB from October 1974 - September 1975, for the fall of "Nam. I know what you mean about getting excited seeing the pictures from way back when... I took lots of photos, too, and did a lot of developing in the Base Services Photo Shop. I agree, it would be nice to see more people find the forum and start to make connections with old buddies. I came in for a looksee since I have been looking for a buddy of mine from Edwards AFB, CA (Jack Bitzer) for many, many years, to no avail.
Anyway, just in case you are not aware of it, there is another place to try to connect - www.militaryconnections.com - I did just try it and got an error message, but I think the site is just down temporarily. If you are able to get in, you can hone in one your own outfit at Ubon or you can start your own listing for that squadron. Maybe eventually someone from the base will find you. You can also seek out and find my stuff listed in the 432nd OMS Squadron at Udorn - I was a fighter mechanic. I have posted a few dozen photos of the planes and the sights in and around Udorn, Udon Thani & also some from Edwards (I worked Transient Alert at EAFB - 6515th OMS).
Unfortunately, I don't think too many people find their way to the site, since I rarely ever hear from anyone that was stationed at Udorn. It doesn't much matter the year, really, because if you think about it, the bases remained pretty much the same for the duration. It might be nice to connect with someone you actually knew, but at this point, I'd just as soon talk to the fuel truck driver or the chow hall clerk as anyone else.... Anyone could have taken pics of the base or the surrounding area, much like I did... And everyone has stories to tell...I have a few of my own!
