In 1930's my father was employed in US Coast Guard for some time, probably as a civilian. He told me when I was young that there was a USCG office at San Pedro, California, where he went to get this employment. Does anybody know where this was? On patrol duty he then went by ship along the US west coast as far as up to Nome, Alaska. I am a lady in Sweden who does genealogy and I would be so happy if anybody could tell me anything about USCG there in California at that time. I have tried to find my father in both military and civilian archives of USCG but without success.
