REMAINS OF 3 ARRIVE IN U.S.
Remains of three district veterans who died in the Pacific Theater have arrived on the US aboard the Army transport, Dalton Victory, the Department of the Army announced today.
The World War II heroes, temporarily buried in military cemeteries in Japan, Saipain and the Philippine Islands, are among 115 returned to Michigan and 2,554 arriving in their native land.
They are: PFC EDMOND M. BLACH, 22, USMC, was killed in action Feb. 28, 1945 on Iwo Jima.His next of Kin is Wesley Ledebuhr 1420 Foley Rd., Capac, MI (NOTE:Ledebuhr's were Edmond's foster family.Edmond's remains are buried in Capac) PFC FRANK S. GUBALA, a former resident of Marine City, MI, was returned at the request of Mrs. Josephine Szymanski formerly of Marine City. CM3C THOMAS J. HERMAN, from Avoca, MI.
