Hi, thank you very much for your replies and sorry for taking so long to reply back, it was the holidays and I was waiting to hear back from them. When I say them, there is a retired undercover police officer and a very good good friend of this lady and her husband Bob that is helping her try and find the information she is needing. I just talked to him and he said she has now received her pension. But now the information that they are after is when he particaped in the Atmospheric Nuclear Testing marshall islands. She is able to collect payment from when he particapted in the testing. Bob was a great man and proud to serve the navy, that is all he knew, and it was very enjoyable to hear his stories. He talked several times about this testing and the ship he was on ect.. They have pictures of this ship with him on it and he pointed himself out before he passed away, but when trying to collect this money that is owed to her is crazy. Bob talked about this ship and talked about the big cranes that was on it. They have found out that they believe the ship was called the USS Hammondsport.
What they would like me to ask you or where to find out if you know of anyone who has collected payment for the radiation exposed during the Atmospheric Nuclear Testing marshall islands in early 1946?
So far they have called the Dept of Justice and gave them all the information, the name of the ship the photo with him on the ship ect.. They also filled out some sort of application, but the people at the Dept of Justice says they are till looking into it, and don't have the exact proof that of Bob being on that ship and can't find any information on what ship he was on. This man served his whole life in the US Navy and they can't find this out or compensate for particapating in the testing. Sorry for this long letter, just trying to fill you in on what's going on. But what we really need help on is trying to find someone who has collected payment for the radiation exposed during the Atmospheric Nuclear Testing in the marshall islands in early 1946 and see if they can be of any help on this situation. Thank you very much for you time and help you have provided. Have a great day, Annette
